The artist, Debra McDonald Nangala, was born 1969 in the Papunya Camp, Haasts Bluff, Northern Territory & is well known for her traditional aboriginal dot art depicting womens ceremonies & her use of colourful, earthy tones.

This painting is titled "Two Women Dreaming" & it is a good & typical example of the series.

Debra McDonald Nangala, has a precise and detailed dot style. She uses a palette of strong earthy tones to depict her Dreamings which are associated with both the honey ant and women's Ceremony.

She comes from a lineage of exceptional artists & is the grand daughter of the late Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi.

In this painting, Debra is depicting Women's Ceremony - Two women Dreaming. The two larger white dot fields represent the women, engaging in women's business. The Site where this Ceremony is being held is shown by the repetition of half circles - the women are sitting amongst the sandhills and rock formations of the vast open desert.
