We serve our South Australian medical practitioners, private hospitals and aged care facilities.
About the Opportunity
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Technical Assistant to join our Infectious Diseases team in a casual capacity. The position is based at our Mile End laboratory and involves working across all shifts Monday to Saturday between the hours of 7am and Midnight.
Applicants will need to possess the following:
practical and relevant experience in a diagnostic pathology laboratory;
sound knowledge and experience in the use of laboratory equipment, automated analysers and quality control material;
sound knowledge and experience in the preparation of microbiological specimens for culture and microscopy for bacteria, fungi and parasites, including Gram stain preparation, wet preparation, cell count preparation and semen sample preparation for motility assessments;
ability to perform and record a variety of antigen tests;
sound knowledge and experience in aseptic techniques;
attention to detail and excellent time management skills;
a sound working knowledge and experience in working in a quality controlled environment and an understanding of NATA accreditation requirements;
ability to adapt to change and to be able to work with a dynamic team; and
a positive ‘can do' attitude and a desire to exceed customer service expectations.
