The Agvet Chemicals, Fisheries and Forestry (AFF) Division develops and implements policies that support continual improvement and innovation in managing and regulating agvet chemicals, fisheries and forestry.

The Jobs
Depending upon the role, duties may include all or some of the following:
Researching, interpreting and applying legislation.
Providing analysis and expertise across a range of agency functions.
Performing research and analysis on international and domestic issues affecting Australia's agricultural, fisheries and forestry industry.
Undertaking tasks to deliver projects with limited supervision.
Liaising, consulting and negotiating with expert groups and a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Providing administrative and secretariat support.
Drafting well-researched policy and policy advice that aligns with the agency’s strategic objectives for various decision-making bodies, senior management and other decision makers.
Please note that this recruitment process will be used to fill a number of vacancies across both of the divisions listed above. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of twelve months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in both divisions where the duties are of a similar nature.
Knowledge and experience
The successful applicants will have all or some of the following:
Experience liaising, consulting and negotiating with expert groups and a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in formulating, drafting and implementing policy advice.
Experience in project management.
Skills and capabilities
The successful applicants will have the following skills and capabilities:
Demonstrated ability to research and analyse policy and legislative issues and assist in the preparation of policy advice for presentation to the minister and departmental executive.
Demonstrated high-level written skills including an ability to effectively communicate ideas to a range of audiences in a range of styles (e.g. reports, ministerial submissions and correspondence, presentations) and listen and respond to stakeholder views.
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to liaise, consult and negotiate with expert groups and a range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to make decisions and work as part of a team, including the ability to manage workflow and produce high quality work within agreed timeframes.
Commitment to continuous improvement and a demonstrated ability to implement and respond positively to change.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and judgement to support Whole of Government work and Inter-Departmental Committees.
