Job Summary: Looking for after school and weekend carer for our intellectually disabled 10 year old son.
Job Details:We are looking for someone to look after our 10 year old intellectually disabled son from 3:30 to 6:30 after school on Thursday and every 2nd Sunday. Potential for more hours when our other two carers can't work. Tristan is someone who absolutely loves life and is almost always happy. He is however, non verbal and not toilet trained. He also has ADHD and can be a handful, but despite that it is hard not to fall for him, and I am not just saying that because I am his mother. We will pay the successful candidate $25 an hour but if you are happy to get your own ABN the rate will increase to $35 (much prefer someone willing to get their own ABN). If you enjoy the job and are interested we will get you trained in ABA therapy to work with Tristan. No previous experience or special training required, it is more about the type of person than the training you have had. You need to be patient (cannot emphasize that enough), caring and not squeamish (I did mention he wasn't toilet trained). The requirement on Thursday is to get him from the bus stop (this is within walking distance to our house) and bring him to our home safely. Once home Tristan will need a snack and a Nappy change.Then either play or therapy (he will very much let you know what he wants) until Mum and Dad get home, and then just watch him so he doesn't get in the way while Mum cooks dinner until 6:30.
