Job Summary: - New Underground Mine - Regional NSW - Excellent Role & Lifestyle Heron Resources is currently developing the Woodlawn Zine-Copper Project – a high grade volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit located approximately 50km northeast of Canberra. This development is adjacent to the old Woodlawn Mine that operated under various owners from 1978 to 1998. The Project involves developing a major new underground mine and the construction of a new processing plant which will process between 1M to 1.5M tonnes per annum. The Company holds extensive exploration tenements in the area and is committed to near mine and regional exploration programmes which are likely to significantly extend the mine life.

Job Details:

The Geology Superintendent will play a key role in the development of the underground mine and then, as a senior member of the operations management team, contribute to the success of the mining operations and the longer term development of the Project.

The key responsibilities of the role will include:

  1. Defining the existing Woodlawn resource to enable effective mining decisions and strategy to be developed

  2. Implementation and management of effective sampling, mapping, grade control and reconciliation procedures

  3. Management of all resource / reserve modelling and calculations

  4. Working with mine design and mine production engineers to optimise ore recovery

  5. Coordination and management of geological and geotechnical data

  6. Contributing to the preparation and submission of statutory reports

The appointee will be a competent and experienced mine geologist, ideally with a strong background in VMS or similar deposits. It is critical for the appointee to be an enthusiastic and "hands on" individual possessing strong leadership skills and abilities to develop the site geology team and to work effectively with mining engineers to achieve the best possible operating and financial performance for the mine.

A competitive salary plus a range of benefits will be offered to attract a top calibre and talented candidate.

The Woodlawn Project provides excellent residential options for staff and their families – with some employees living in villages like Bungendore or Tarago in close proximity to the mine or in larger centres such as Goulburn, Queanbeyan or Canberra.
