Key Responsibilities:
Maintain knowledge of contemporary trends and practices, funding initiatives and service delivery options to ensure the provision of best practice youth justice programs and services.
Coordinate the development, delivery and review of a range of individual and group programs to address the identified criminogenic and support needs of young people in detention focussing on developmental, sporting and recreational (DSR) programs.
Develop and assist consultation processes with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen relationships, share resources and seek support in the delivery of centre programs.
Engage and participate in community consultation including attendance in liaison meetings and interagency meetings.
In accordance with departmental policies, procedures and relevant legislation develop and support initiatives that may reduce the over representation of Indigenous young people in the youth justice system.
Liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders including relevant departmental staff to promote effective coordination, integration and delivery of high quality programs and activities for young people on youth justice orders.
Establish and maintain recording and reporting systems to ensure efficient an accountable and transparent process in the management of youth justice programs.
Provide ongoing recruitment, training, supervision and professional development to support succession planning, quality service provision and appropriate leadership to program staff.
Participate as a member of the youth detention centre management team and contribute to strategic and operational planning, reviews and key decision-making.
In collaboration with the relevant stakeholders, key centre personnel and Education Queensland, develop a monthly programs schedule for young people in detention.
