Job Details:
Due to continued growth on our Defence Base Services (DBS) contract, Broadspectrum are seeking to appoint an Experienced Carpenter for our Estate Upkeep Team to support our operations at Defence Establishment Berrimah and Larrakeyah Navy Base, NT on a Full Time basis. This role would see you conducting trade related tasks for which they are competent and qualified within time frames specified in Work Orders to the required Work Standards and/or the standard detailed in materiel specific instructions. This may include:
Primary Responsibilities
Determine job requirements from drawings, templates and written instructions
Prepare accurate cutting lists for jobs
Prepare and assemble cabinets and other structures for installation
Select and install hardware to furnishings and structures, such as handles and hinges
Perform on-site repairs and adjustments
Set up jigs, select material and cut material to size and shape using templates
Cut joints using wood-cutting machines or hand tools
Assemble prepared wood to form structures and fittings
Work with plastic laminates, Perspex or metals
Clean and maintain work areas, including machinery and tools, to ensure a safe working environment.
Contributing to the collaborative innovation by identifying continuous improvement initiatives
Conduct checks to ensure that the maintenance tasks have been completed in accordance with the relevant Work Standard
Signing the relevant section of a Job Card to certify that tasks have been completed in accordance with the Work Standard
Recording on the task documentation any other faults observed
Investigate materiel defects and reporting on unsatisfactory materiel, and drafting reports
Observing and applying all technical data and orders that relate to these duties
Maintaining housekeeping of workshop areas, site areas and vehicles
Performing additional work related responsibilities as directed by supervisors such as first aid attendant, safety committee representative, unit fire team representative and or Better ways
Work is to be carried out in a manner which is acceptable to workplace, health & safety, environmental and quality improvement requirements.

Undertake other duties as may be required by the Company from time to time.
Technical Competencies
Trade Certificate III in Carpentry with experience in maintenance
Basic knowledge of removal of Hazardous Material.
Ability to learn and use proprietary software necessary to support the position
Current Driver’s License
Basic understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management System beneficial
Working at heights qualifications would be beneficial
White Card
Previous work on a Defence base would be highly regarded.

Ability to work with limited supervision
Demonstrated experience in maintenance role
Demonstrated management and organisational skills.
An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
