About the Role


As an Assistant Category Manager your passion for wine brings Ignite Discovery to life in everything we do. Partnering with the broader Wine team, you will contribute to the execution of the overarching category strategy, with a key focus on range and discovery.


You will build and manage supplier relationships end to end (from buying to promotions) with existing regional suppliers; and will use your strong knowledge of the category and understanding of competitors, brands, consumer & shopper trends to create customer focused promotional strategies to drive sustainable growth.


Key Responsibilities

As an Assistant Category Manager within Dan Murphy’s you will be responsible for the following:
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers within your region, managing the relationship end to end from buying to promotions
Partner closely with the Commercial teams to ensure inclusion of product in promotional plan and contribute to execution of overarching category strategy
Own end to end promotional planning rhythm for region by partnering with relevant suppliers and internal teams to execute promotions that deliver upon strategic category objectives
Provide exceptional support to our store teams in delivering world-class promotional execution and ensuring that issues are addressed and queries resolved in a timely manner
Act as a thought leader and work closely with the Category assistant to ensure accurate and timely management of end to end promotional administration
Utilise available data to regularly review performance with internal and external stakeholders
Prepare and brief major category campaigns, along with key supplier funded activities.
Analysis of performance of website assets and areas to highlight requirements to the wider category teams in terms of product selection.
Development of corporate and event packages and offers for the customer hub outbound and inbound sales teams.
Liaise with the Category Teams to provide quotations for any corporate or event orders placed through the Customer Care & Corporate Teams

About You
To be Successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience in promotions management within a buying environment (preferred)
In-depth understanding and application of core category management skills, including leverage of customer data & insights
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships
Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in liquor retail or corporate and event sales and a customer centric attitude and a passion for the liquor industry.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and SAP
