Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the Seqirus Parkville Animal Services team of ten, and working between the Woodend and Parkville (Australia) sites, the Animal Services Facilities Manager is a full-time permanent role which requires complex decision making and liaising with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders across the business.
Specific responsibilities in this interesting and varied role will include:
Manage and undertake all Animal Facility Manager responsibilities as outlined in the Australian code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes (Australian Code) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (POCTA);
Manage the Antivenom production processes ensuring they are conducted in accordance with cGXP requirements;
Manage all Animal Services facilities, systems and processes ensuring they are compliant with the relevant quality, regulatory, safety and environmental standards;
Manage all animal husbandry, breeding, housing, care, technical requirements;
Manage animal care and use policies, standard operating procedures and programs, to comply with regulations;
Continuously identify and implement improvement programs to achieve best practice standards in animal care;
Participate as an active member of the CSL Animal Ethics Committee and provide support to Animal Ethics Compliance Officer/AEC Executive Officer and Animal Welfare Officer;
Manage commercial farm production activities including agronomy (paddock rotation and management, crops, irrigation) and livestock sales at the Woodend Farm.
Qualifications
To be considered for the role, candidates must possess:
· Veterinary degree or Animal Technology qualification; or Relevant Science degree or equivalent qualification;
· 5 years minimum experience in managing a small animal and/or large animal facility; or 5 years minimum experience in managing a GMP manufacturing operation;
· Experience in the application of cGxP in the pharmaceutical industry;
· Experience in the application of the Australian Code and POCTA for animals used in research and for biological production;
· Experience in liaising with Regulatory and Industry groups;
· Experience in budget management.
